Censorship in the Bookhappyendingsdoc.wordpress.com;march 13th,2012
The censorship in the book is the government wants everyone to equal with knowledge. One factor of censorship is,if someone reads more books it is not equal knowledge for all of the general population. With knowledge people gain information form opinions and ask questions. In the book they use entertainment such as television and radio to learn. Members of society focus only on entertainment, immediate gratification and speeding through life. Without room for literature, self reflection,or appreciation of nature, society slowly lost interest in books first condensing them then relying on simply titles and then not using them all together. Another factor is different "minority" groups were offended by certain types of literature for example, Beatty mentions dog lovers and cat lovers. The author is very sensitive to any attempt of him not having his freedom of speech, for example he objects to letters he has received suggesting that he revise his treatment of female or black characters. This all leads up to why the government thinks that they have to burn books.
